An attractive red transferware plate in the popular "SIRIUS" pattern. Introduced in 1839 by J. & T. Edwards, the plate is about 8 1/8 inches in diameter. the central scene has a Turkish couple standing in front of a lake with houses and trees behind. The border has a six petal flowers and sprays of coral. The outer edge has tiny 5 point flowers. The plate is marked SIRIUS in a cartouche in transfer on the back and then impressed PORCELAINE OPAQUE. It is in excellent condition free of chips, cracks and nicks. Also, there is no staining or crazing. A plate that will display very well on either a wall or in a cabinet.
