MADRAS BLUE TRANSFER PLATE BY DOULTON 1890

 

An attractive blue transferware plate in the popular "MADRAS" pattern. Introduced about 1890 by Doulton Pottery Company. The plate is decagonal in shape and is about 6 1/2 inches in diameter. The central scene has an oriental couple standing in front of a lake or river with houses, temples and trees behind. The plate is unmarked but the pattern is shown in "Flow Blue China - An Aid to Identification" by Petra Williams page 36. It is in excellent condition free of chips, cracks and nicks. Also, there is no staining or crazing. A plate that will display very well on either a wall or in a cabinet. Two available.
