GRAND LOOP WHITE IRONSTONE WASH BOWL AND EWER BY FURNIVAL c.1855

 

This is a fantastic white ironstone wash bowl and pitcher set. Made in the 1850s by Jacob Furnival, both pieces bear his transferware mark on the base. The set is in one of the scarcer patterns. The bowl is about 13 3/8 inches in diameter, about 4 1/2 inches high and the foot ring is 7 inches in diameter. It has five large scallops and the pattern is on the interior of the bowl. The bowl is in excellent condition with one tiny firing line on the foot and some excess glaze pools on the underside of rim. There is minimal crazing and there is no discoloration or stains.

The ewer or pitcher is 11 3/8 inches high, 8 1/8 inches wide from lip to handle edge and the foot is 5 7/16 inches in diameter. The ewer is also in near mint condition. There is one 3/4 inch firing line on one side of the handle on the right side. There are no chips, cracks or nicks. There is minimal crazing and there are no stains or discolorations. This is a fantastic early white ironstone wash bowl and pitcher set.
