A very nice red transferware plate in the "COLOGNE" pattern. The pattern was introduced in1853 by J. & C. Alcock of Cobridge, England. The plate has a central scene of a Gothic building and a group of 4 people sitting and conversing on the opposite shore. The plate has the name and maker in a transfer mark on back, The plate also has the mark of the Importer Wright & Pike of Philadelphia, PA. The plate is on an ironstone body and is twelve side and is 8 3/8 inches in diameter. It is in excellent condition and is free of chips, cracks or nicks. There is however some minor overall crazing. Color is bright and the design is strong and not smeared. A very nice Gothic ironstone red transfer plate.
