A very nice covered butter dish in the "VIRGINIA" state pattern. Introduced in 1901 by The U.S. Glass Company as part of their states series, the pattern is also known as BANDED PORTLAND. The butter dish is 8 1/4 inches in diameter and about 5 1/2 inches high to top of finial. it is in excellent condition free of chips, cracks or nicks. There is a teeny bubble on the edge of the base that is completely closed. This is a great state pattern butter that is not easy to find.
