A nice clear salt shaker in the popular "MASCOTTE" or "MAUDE S" pattern. The pattern was introduced in 1874 by Ripley & Company of Pittsburgh, PA. The shaker is 3 1/4 inches high and 1 7/16 inches in diameter. The lid is original and is made of Britannia (pewter alloy). It is in excellent condition free of chips, cracks or nicks. The shaker is very clear and is not cloudy, sick or have chemical deposits. A nice early salt shaker in a popular post Civil War pattern.
