A lovely covered butter dish in the highly sought after "CHERRY" pattern. Part of the naturalistic series of patterns made in the 1870s, this pattern was produced by Bakewell, Pears & Company of Pittsburgh, PA. The butter dish is 6 inches in diameter and and about 4 3/8 inches high to top of finial. The finial is a full cherry with leaf next to a sliced cherry with pit. The butter is in excellent condition free of chips, cracks and nicks. There is some roughness on the inner rim of the lid where there is an excess glass mold line.
