BAKEWELL BLOCK FLINT CELERY VASE BY BAKEWELL, PEARS & CO. c.1850s

 

A fantastic clear flint celery vase in the hard to find but popular "BAKEWELL BLOCK" pattern. Made in the 1850s by Bakewell, Pears & Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The celery is typical of its era with the oversized foot and chunkiness to its stature. The celery vase is 9 3/8 inches high, a top diameter of 4 7/8 inches and the foot is 4 1/8 inches. The flint glass celery is in excellent condition and is free of chips, cracks and nicks. The glass is very brilliant and is not sick, cloudy, discolored or have chemical deposits. A wonderful early Pittsburgh pattern glass vase.
