A wonderful early firkin or sugar bucket in original Oyster white paint. The firkin is a large size that could be used for the bottom of a stack. It is about 22 1/2 inches high to top of bail handle, 15 inches high to top of lid, 14 1/2 inch lid diameter and the base has a diameter of 15 1/2 inches. The firkin is in original as found condition. It has not been painted on the inside or the inside lid. It is very sturdy and the bands are tight. The bands have copper brad nails and one staple at the end of the finger. The base has one small 1 1/2 inch long area that a mouse has chewed and does not go into the bottom (see pic#5 6 o'clock position). The lid has two losses where there was original brad nails that have popped loose (see pic#2). The lid band has lost its original staple. The paint shows some wear especially on the lid on the edges. This is a great looking firkin in a basic neutral Oyster white paint.
