COUNTRY BIRDCAGE VASE TURNED PEDESTAL CANDLESTAND c.1820s

A cheery and pine vase turned primitive country birdcage candle stand made circa 1820. The candle stand was found in Mercer County, Pennsylvania at an old camp. The turnings are over pure simple country and the legs are under exaggerated snake feet. The stand has a birdcage but the top piece has been missing for years. It was originally a tilt-top but the top is now permanently attached. The top does rotate and over the years has worn a hole through the center of the table. The feet and pedestal is cherry and the top is out of round pine. There are large over done pegging on the pedestal to hold the legs in place. The table is 27 1/2 inches high and about 21 1/2 inches in diameter. A very unusual country candle stand.
