EASTERN CONNECTICUT WINDSOR ARM CHAIR c.1820

Here is a nice clean, strong circa 1820s Windsor square back arm chair. Found in the Eastern Connecticut area near Preston, the chair has the traditional bamboo turnings that are slightly exaggerated and look like sausage links. Its seat is shield-shape and there are seven back rods. Its seat height is 17 1/2 inches and the total chair height is 34 1/2 inches while the seat measures 17 inches. This Windsor has a pine seat with maple and ash and is in excellent condition, strong and sturdy with no breaks or repairs. Refinished at least 50 or more years ago, the under side of the seat displays  traces of the original salmon paint.
